Explorers - Great Escape 2014

What a great weekend for this year's District Explorer Great Escape competition. After the cold and rain of last year it was somewhat surreal to see glorious sunshine and warmth. Two teams were entered into the event - Inspector Basil's New Chums and Spitfire. Having checked in and undergone training on Friday evening the competition commenced with teams having to navigate to various checkpoints over the weekend where they had to complete tasks and challenges, whilst avoiding being captured by 'hunter' forces and their flour bombs.

The Great Escape is no easy task. It is both physically and mentally draining with little sleep, lots of walking & running, tough challenges at each of the checkpoints and constant pressure to gain as many points as possible. Whether you win or not, the real achievement is taking part, putting 100% into it and getting to the final flour bomb assault on Sunday afternoon still smiling.

Congratulations to both our teams for making it through the weekend. Sadly they didn't win the competition but were winners in themselves for having survived and completed the Great Escape.

Well done!
