Beavers' Spring Term 2013

25.1.13 - Burns' Night - New Beavers Join

We started off the year in fine style on Burns' night when our new Beavers came along for their first meeting.  First we designed the kilts .....

...  then we made the kilts ...

... and then, you guessed it, we found some willing models!!  Thank you guys!

1.12.13 - Out and About - Torchlight Walk @ Priory Park

On only their second meeting, our intrepid new Beavers joined us for a very dark walk around Priory Park.  It was extremely muddy and we were lucky to not lose any wellies!

8.2.13 - Chinese New Year - Junk Modelling

With pronunciation help from Jake and Kristian the Beavers were able to wish each other happy new year in Chinese before going on to demonstrate some super team work when each lodge made their own Chinese dragon.  There was sticky tape and boxes everywhere and we were very thankful to all of the helpers who joined in.  We are delighted to say that one of the helpers, Alasdair, has now joined us on the Beaver team.  Welcome Alasdair!!

1.3.13 - Mike's Night - Group Scout Leader Visit + Investitures

On what turned out to be one of the busiest night's of the term, Mike our GSL, came along to Beavers and wowed them with map reading and compass making activities.  This was after they'd all got tied up in knots!!

At the end of the meeting, our new Beavers were invested and welcomed into the 17th Reigate Scout Group.

8.3.13 - Out and About - Archery At Jordan Heights

A huge 'thank you' to Fox (aka Akela at Cubs) for organising our first Beaver visit to Jordan Heights.  We were again, very lucky to have so many helpers on the evening.  This meant that the evening went smoothly and that the
Beavers were kept safe.  We were fortunate to be joined by 'Barnaby Bear' from St. Joseph's school.  You might be able to spot him in the pictures below enjoying the archery and the campfire.

15.3.13 - Rugby Night

Thanks to the dreadful weather on the night, our planned trip to Reigate Rugby Club had to be changed to an indoor night in the scout hut.  However, this didn't put anyone off and the Beavers, under enthusiastic instruction from the rugby coaches, had a wonderful time fine-tuning their rugby skills.

16 &17.3.13 - District Beaver Sleepover and Funday - Reigate College

On this soggy Saturday morning, the 17th Reigate Beavers came out in force, with the entire colony in attendance.  We had the largest group of Beavers attending the Funday itself and the largest number of 7 year old Beavers staying for the Sleepover.  Badger, Squirrel, Owl and Hawkeye were there too and we were all incredibly proud of the Beavers and the way they all behaved and joined in.  The quote of the weekend came from one of the Beavers who, when asked how he'd slept, replied with "Heavenly!"

Chief Scout Bronze Awards

Several of our Beavers have earned their Bronze Awards this term which shows  that they have participated enthusiastically and fully in our activities, earning their Challenge Badges on the way.  Well done to you all!

One of our older Beavers, pictured above receiving her Bronze Award, wrote us  a fabulous poem about the wonderful time she'd had with us.  Get your tissues ready .....

Once again, we'd like to thank all of the people who have helped us this term.  Thanks too to the amazing Beavers for their 'can do' attitudes.
