Three Scouts / Explorers from Reigate were presented with their Chief Scout’s Gold Award at a ceremony on Saturday 17 November, by Martin Gerrard, Deputy Lord Lieutenant for Surrey along with almost 100 other Scouts and Explorers from across all of the County. The Chief Scout’s Gold Award is the highest achievement that can be earned as a Scout and to achieve this the young people would have undertaken a number of skills, service and physical challenges as well as completing an expedition.
Asked what he enjoyed the most in Scouting, Max from the 17th commented on the survival camp he attended where he had to prepare and cook a rabbit. All of the Scouts and Explorers on meeting Roxanna Bostock, County Commissioner and her team, shared their experiences that had gained whilst achieving their award. These were then shared with the audience on a long wall chart with activities ranging from kayaking to paragliding, cooking skills to crafts, and traditional scouting skills to archery.
Martin Gerrard, summed the evening up, as he congratulated all the Scouts and Explorers on their award saying that they should be extremely proud of what they have achieved, saying that their award not only recognises the hard work they have all put in put would support their future plans as employers are keen to see this level of commitment.
Well done Max!
