The Bank Holiday weekend saw our annual
Group Family Camp and a number of families pitch their tents for 3 days of fun and relaxation. With the weather
prospects not looking to good it was no surprise to wake up on Saturday morning
to the sound of rain. However after starting the day with a traditional camp breakfast
(sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs (eggy bread would appear on the menu on Sunday
morning), beans, toast, cereal and juice, various activities ran throughout the
day including stomp and water rockets, archery, crossbows, spaghetti modeling,
climbing, shooting, laser tag, whittling and playing Kubb. With a roaring fire,
there was also the opportunity to just sit and chillout.
Sunday proved to be the better day for
weather and following a production line of paracord bracelets
and key rings we set off for an afternoon ramble to Peaslake (and the opportunity
to jump in lots of puddles). Once back at camp thoughts turned to the evening
meal (bbq) of burgers, sausages and bananas wrapped in bacon!
The rain returned on Monday bringing the camp
to a wet and miserable (both in weather and the fact that we had to go home)
end. But despite the inclement weather fun was had by all.
