Beaver Summer Fun 2013

21.4.13 - St. George's Day

The Beavers started off the Summer term by joining in the district fun day at Reigate College to celebrate St. George's Day.  Lots of fun was had playing games with Beavers from other colonies in the district and also spending time with other members of the 17th Scout group.

26.4.13 - Parachutes and Swim-Up

The parachute came out for our first meeting back and we said 'goodbye' to three Beavers moving on to Cubs.  As usual, Akela was there to meet them after they'd swum up the rope.

10.5.13 - Mercers Park

Our first 'out and about' evening was a visit to Mercers Park which involved a walk round the lake with a stop-off half way round to play some games, do some water safety quizzes and prepare for the AGM.  Needless to say, it was a busy evening and we were very lucky to get back to the car park just before it was being locked up for the night.

24.5.13 - Reigate Hill

This week we thought it about time we visited Reigate Hill again and pop in to the fort.  Despite the early drizzle, the weather picked up and we had lots of fun exploring and playing games before going back to the car park to invest some of our new Beavers.

7.6.13 - Weird Science

While Badger was away we ended up making a bit of a mess on our science night.  Great frothy fountains were created inside with Falcon and outside with Owl.  At the same time, Hawkeye and the Beavers made their very own lava lamps and Squirrel made the floor dirty with cornflour and water.

14.6.13 - Hobbies

For this meeting, the Beavers came along ready to show off their hobbies to each other.  Check out the action shots below!!

21.6.13 - Emergency 999

On this night, the parents were rather shocked to see an ambulance parked outside the scout hut.  Fortunately it had been brought along by Rowan's Dad, a paramedic and his Mum, a nurse.  We had a fabulous and very constructive time learning simple first aid techniques and having a chance to go in the ambulance.  Beavers put their new-found skills to the test when they managed to save Badger!!

At the end of the evening, we invested our other new Beavers.

5.7.13 - Star Spangled Beavers

On 5th July we had an American theme for the evening which was topped off with hotdogs and popcorn.  As you can see from one of the photos in particular, these proved to be rather popular!!

12.7.13 - Out and About in Nutfield

On this glorious sunny evening we descended on the park!!  An ideal way to end the week.  10 bonus points to anyone who can name the Beaver hanging upside down!

19.7.13 - Water Fight at Ron's

Our last meeting of the term was the traditional water fight at Ron's.  As usual, Ron very kindly provided a supply of cold water and allowed us to run riot in his field.  The parent helpers got stuck in and had as much fun as the Beavers.  The array of water pistols was mightily impressive and we all got well and truly drenched.

A huge 'thank you' to all of the parent helpers for their support this term, to the whole Beaver team for their time and great ideas and also to the Beavers themselves for making it all such fun.

See you soon with all those pennies!!!!
