Scouts District Cowhorn Competition

Congratulations to the team of six Scouts that completed the District Cowhorn competition on Sunday 11th March.

Cowhorn is an incident hike that encompasses map reading skills and various challenges / team activities. The Scouts navigated their way around footpaths and bridleways in the Surrey countryside and at various checkpoints undertook a challenge to gain extra points.  The challenges included pea shooting melons, balancing balls within drain pipes and limbo dancing.

The base that Tony and Paul ran was testing communication.  All the Scouts in the team apart from one were blindfolded (we couldn't find the blindfolds, hence the hi-vis over the heads!).  The non-blindfolded Scout gave directions to their colleagues to tilt the board to direct a golf ball through a maze - a task much harder than it sounds.
Do you recognise the "mystery" player?

Although we finished 6th, 17th Reigate were the first team back to base.  They completed the hike and all the bases in about 5 hours, whilst some teams took over 6 hours.

Well done to the team - Connor, Dominic, Jonna, Ben, Chris, and Tim.
